A Romantic Surrey Wedding at De Vere Horsley Towers

A Romantic Surrey Wedding at De Vere Horsley Towers

O & T – 4th July 2025

As a wedding videographer in Surrey, few venues inspire me quite like De Vere Horsley Towers. With its dramatic Gothic, castle-style architecture and secluded grounds, it’s a dream backdrop for couples who want history, romance, and elegance in one place. On , I had the privilege of filming O and T’s unforgettable celebration — a day filled with sunshine, heritage and timeless beauty.

Ceremony in the Great Hall

O and T exchanged vows in the Great Hall, an awe-inspiring space with stained glass, glittering chandeliers, wooden coats of arms and a grand organ above. After their vows, they slipped away for a quiet moment in the private chapel within Horsley Towers — an ornate 19th-century sanctuary linked by cloisters — the perfect setting to pause and soak in the moment.

Ukrainian Traditions

T’s Ukrainian heritage brought meaningful cultural depth. At the close of the ceremony, the couple stepped onto a traditional embroidered cloth known as a rushnyk, symbolising the start of their life together; the cloth was then tied around their hands as they walked the aisle — a beautiful symbol of unity. Later, during the wedding breakfast entrance, they were welcomed with bread and salt (khlib-sil’) — a timeless custom wishing prosperity, hospitality and that the couple will never be without life’s essentials.

The Wedding Breakfast

The meal was hosted in one of Horsley Towers’ longest and grandest suites, set for sixty guests along a magnificent banquet table. Styling leaned into soft greens and creams with elegant florals by @lovelaceandgreen. A favourite detail: the favour bags featuring a portrait of their beloved cat, KiKi — her presence felt even if she couldn’t attend.

A charismatic toastmaster in striking red robes guided the day with warmth and humour, while speeches — a blend of English and Ukrainian — were shared throughout the banquet. After the meal, a pianist accompanied impromptu songs, filling the suite with music and celebration.

The Evening Party

The celebrations moved to another suite where O and T performed a beautifully rehearsed first dance to “Video Games” by Lana Del Rey — cinematic, romantic and perfectly suited to the setting. Surrey Event Services kept the floor packed with a high-energy party that rolled late into the night.

Behind the Lens

For me, this was wedding videography in Surrey at its best: the Gothic splendour of De Vere Horsley Towers, heartfelt Ukrainian traditions, elegant styling and joyful people — a perfect blend for a cinematic story. I’ll be sharing O and T’s full feature wedding film here soon — but first, I’m giving the couple, their family and friends time to enjoy it privately. Trust me, it’s worth the wait.
