Autumn at the Ravenswood Wedding Videography, Sussex

As someone who does wedding videography in Sussex, I never know quite what to expect from wedding day I video – and (to be honest) that’s part of what I love about it! This November wedding at The Ravenswood stood out straight away. From the moment I arrived, I could tell the couple had really made the day their own. It wasn’t your typical schedule, and that just added to the charm.

The Ravenswood: A Beautiful and Personal Setting

The Ravenswood is one of those venues that manages to feel grand and homely at the same time. Tucked away in the Sussex countryside, it’s got lovely grounds, cosy interiors, and so much character. A really touching detail on the day was the groom’s family coat of arms being featured on the building itself – a little nod to his Scottish roots, and one of those personal touches that made the day feel even more meaningful.

A Ceremony-Led Celebration

Rather than a full-day event with a reception and wedding breakfast, this couple chose to focus on the things that mattered most to them – a heartfelt ceremony, time with loved ones, and a party to remember. Their young son played a big part as the ring bearer, which brought some sweet and funny moments that worked beautifully on video. I’ve done wedding videography across Sussex for years, and it’s always lovely to see how different families shape their day to reflect what’s most important to them.

Bright Colours and Autumn Light

Even though it was a cold November day, we got lucky with the weather. The skies stayed clear, and there was a beautiful golden hour just before sunset. That soft light across the Ravenswood grounds gave us some really gorgeous footage – warm, cinematic, and a bit magical. The couple’s choice of colour scheme – bright orange, with touches of white, grey and black – really stood out against the fading autumn tones. It gave the whole wedding video a lovely contrast and sense of warmth, even in the chilly air.

Evening Festivities and a Big Finish

Once the sun dipped and the lights came on, the evening really came to life. After the couple cut their cake and shared their first dance, the dance floor filled up quickly. You could feel how much everyone was just enjoying being together. One of my favourite moments to film was the sparkler tunnel – everyone holding out sparklers as the couple walked through the middle, grinning from ear to ear. It’s one of those scenes that always feels like a movie moment when you watch it back.

Then came the finale – a custom firework display set off just for the two of them. It lit up the night sky above The Ravenswood and brought the day to a close in the most spectacular way. As someone who works in wedding video in Sussex, I can honestly say those are the kind of moments that stay with you long after the edit is done.
